He makes no doubt of giving general satisfaction to those who may favor him with their commands ... all orders will be punctually attended to " -- Asa Blanchard advertisement 1807
ASA BLANCHARD ( 1787-1838) -- Known as the Paul Revere of the South, Asa Blanchard is one of the most highly collected of early American silversmiths. He is believed to have come to Lexington, Kentucky in 1806 from Dumfries, Virginia at a time when Kentucky was exploding with growth and transitioning from a small outpost on the edge of the wilderness to the bustling economic and cultural center known as the “Athens of the West.”
Blanchard’s designs are known for their clean, elegant lines. His creations, and those of his apprentices, are timeless, hence his popularity with today’s serious silver collectors. In 2015, a Kentucky corporation, Lexington Silver LLC, was chartered to reproduce Asa Blanchard's most classic designs, starting with the barrel beaker.
The new Asa Blanchard Collection designs are reproduced by hand and made proudly in the United States of America by talented craftsmen out of the finest materials.
They are tomorrow's heirlooms, created to be enjoyed and used today.
